FATHERSVOICE.ORG SITE WILL LAUNCH DECEMBER, 2007

Did you know that as many as half of all college students do not have adequate academic preparation, and are required to take remedial courses?  Almost three-quarters of high school graduates go on to postsecondary schooling, while fewer than half have completed a full college preparatory program.  Not surprisingly, students’ lack of adequate preparation contributes to stunningly high dropout rates.

Research suggests that parental involvement fosters positive attitudes toward school, improves homework habits, reduces absenteeism, reduces student's risk of dropping out of school, and enhances academic achievement.  With student-to-counselor ratios of nearly 1000:1 in many California schools, children in underserved communities are far less likely to receive the advice and counsel necessary for them to pursue their dreams.  It is essential for fathers to have a more active role in preparing our youth for the future!

Father's Voice empowers fathers to become effective advocates for their children and highly educated on college preparation and school to career opportunities.  We measure the effectiveness of our program through surveys, focus groups and hands on learning workshops.  Our mission is to develop effective and replicable programs, designed to empower fathers who can serve as community resources for parents in their schools, churches or organizations.

Give your children every opportunity to fulfill their dreams!
